HRVY, MATOMA - "GOOD VIBES" (POP, UK)

It is baffling that HRVY is not more of a household name in the UK. The 21 year old from Kent has been a children's TV presenter, has supported Little Mix, worked with writers who have penned hits for Ava Max, Justin Bieber and Lauv and is even on this year's Strictly Come Dancing. The cutesy sugar-pop heart throb is still hiding under the radar despite several years of credible pop sizzlers, dance orientated anthems and impressive collaborations. With that in mind, HRVY's latest masterpiece "Good Vibes" utilises the pop wizardry of Norwegian producer Matoma, further emphasising his aforementioned credentials.

"Good Vibes" is dominated by HRVY's effervescent vocals which pepper the soundboard with adolescent verve whilst conveying positivity through spoken word; "I only want good vibes around me tonight, no negativity in my life". That dynamic lyrical simplicity in the style of an optimistic mantra is exactly what people need given the current global climate. Complimenting this, HRVY couples those honeyed vocals with truncated warps, a competent beat and brassy instrumental choral build-ups. The culmination of these inputs produces a track polished in seventies camp meets nineties bubblegum that nurtures a youthful skew of musical experimentalism and playfulness which typifies HRVY as an artist.
