SIANON - "SAD BOP" (POP, UK)
Sianon is a fresh new artist who currently resides in Brighton. Having already partaken in the Isle Of Wight festival and with collaborations from the likes of Irvin (Lana Del Rey) and Liam Willford (Coasts) this personable solo artist is making the right impressions.
In what is ultimately a strange and difficult year for us, Sianon's cutesy, sincere and amiable slices of pop music are the perfect antidote to banish away the mediocrity of lockdowns and darker evenings.
"Sad Bop" as a title perhaps belies the true character of the song's composition; yes, to quote Sianon directly, this is a song about "how I felt last summer when all of my Saturday nights were spent in the same old club, same old songs, same old guys", yet underneath that melancolic foundation and lyrical transparency is a glimmer of finding and knowing what makes you happy elsewhere. That in itself is reflected in the giddy adolescent beats, joyous reverb and choral build ups. Think Sigrid meets Astrid S. Very Scandinavian. Very cute. Very much needed.
