M83 - "DO IT, TRY IT" (ELECTRO-POP, FRANCE)
Finally after almost a year long hiatus we are back and it seems only fitting that our first post features someone else that has been on a rather extensive period of leave, Mr Anthony Gonzalez, the curative genius behind French outfit M83.
It has been almost five insanely painful years since 2011's album "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming" but finally new album "Junk" will be released in April. Opening track "Do It, Try It" is everything we have come to expect from Gonzalez and his efficacious soirées into the electronic yonder. Sparkling discotheque keys bounce along to pinpoint vocals; trivial in places, hauntingly spectacular in others. This latest offering oozes Everything Everything meets The Whip circa 2009 but with razor sharp freshness and stylised guile. Each choral build-up is decidedly animated. Camp pigments drizzle across neon synths and a heady dance beat. Great compositions as always. Welcome back M83.
